Elementary students at Smithtown Christian School were ecstatic to experience this year’s Spiritual Emphasis Week. Students were able to feel the Lord’s presence and have an amazing time of worship, led by fourth grade teacher Ms. Martin. This year’s theme was “God’s Not Dead,” and the students learned that God is still alive and He is working in all of our lives.

The first speaker was Mrs. Golden. She spoke to the students about how many children in other schools could not mention God’s name or pray in school. She taught the children that when an instance like this occurs; you have to take a stand for what you believe in.

Mrs. Golden made the reference to the verse 2 Timothy 1:7 which says, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” This verse shows the kids that God will make them brave in any situation in their lives.

At the end of the week, the students enjoyed a magic show performed by parent, Mr. Vinny Vetere. He showed the kids how sometimes things can seem real, but often times they’re not. Finally, he told them the story of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
