Friday, February 6 was an eventful night for the SCS boys varsity basketball team.
The team headed to The Stony Brook School for the final game of the season, and countless fans followed along. By 7:30 P.M., the stands were packed with friends and family, ready to cheer for the SCS Knights.
Walking into the gym, one could feel the electricity from the beginning. The shouts from the stands rang all around, and the excitement made for an entertaining four quarters.
The boys played extremely well, giving SBS a run for their money. The score was supremely close the majority of the time, and it seemed like anybody’s game.
With 30 seconds left in the game, the score was 52-50, and SCS was down by two. The crowd was adrenalized, and many were on their feet. Time-outs were called, and shots made, but neither team was able to make another basket. The final score was 52-50, an unfortunate turn of events for the Knights.
This was also the last game of the season for the cheerleading team. The cheerleaders were energized and elated, leading the crowd in cheers throughout the night. Their good spirits softened the blow of an unlucky loss.
Regrettably, this means that the boys varsity basketball team will not advance to the playoffs this year. The team played their best, glorified God, and therefore those at SCS are immensely proud. Their season record was 7-10.
