Hundreds of smiling people poured into the doors of Smithtown Christian School to enjoy Grandparents’ Day. People came from all over the United States and the world to celebrate this day with their grandchildren, from Queens to Arizona and even from Haiti. This day, April 29, 2015, marked a special day for elementary students at SCS as well as their grandparents and other loved ones.
The day consisted of a special chapel service and a luncheon prepared by Mr. John Contes and Mrs. Rita Tomasini. Throughout the day, the National Honor Society, along with 20 volunteers, helped serve throughout the whole day.
Mrs. Anna Fenimore, Director of Development and Marketing, stated that, “the day could not go as smoothly and orderly without this team of dedicated individuals!”
For lunch, family members enjoyed chicken francese, rice pilaf, biscuits, and steamed broccoli. Throughout the meal, they enjoyed various performances from students at SCS: Undignified, Promise Singers, and Mrs. Buttacy and Ms. Cronin’s 2nd grade classes.
The grandparents went home with a gift bag and a smile on their faces. All of them are looking forward to coming again next year.
