The Smithtown Christian baseball team won the Class D state title against Westfield, 8-4, Saturday in upstate Binghamton. It was the Knights’ second straight championship.
Juniors Glen-Luke Middendorf, Zach DiBlanda and Carlos Pagan each batted 3-for-4. Sophomore stalwart pitchers Austin Sala and Jimmy Seviour were awesome at the plate in the championship game. They batted 2-for-4.
Sala, who was the starting in the title game, struck out six which helped lead the Knights to victory.
The team had five hits in the first inning.
Junior Sal Ciaravino scored the winning run in the semifinal game in the Final Four.
