The JV boys wrestling team is coming to the end of its season. The wrestlers have worked hard and gained experience this season.
Junior and team captain, Joshua Bellinger, finished off the season with a 6-3 record.
Bellinger has been on the team for four years, and he says this season was different from last year. There was a different coach and an entirely different dynamic. This season required more work from the players, but it paid off because the team grew as a whole. Bellinger motivated the team by encouraging them and telling them their strengths.
“On every other team, the team works hard and certain individuals stand out, but on the wrestling team, each individual works hard for a win,’’ said Coach Michael Sinclair. “Win or lose, their character makes their team stand out. We don’t have the best players; we work hard and show good character.”
Sinclair encourages the Knights by showing them where they have grown, and he is proud of them.
The plan for next season is to move to varsity and hopefully attract more wrestlers. Next season the team plans to work on their strengths. The goal for the wrestling team is to establish a culture and create excitement.
Overall, there were not many wins, but the team gained experience which has provided knowledge to improve in the future.
